Picture it (channeling my inner Sophia): It's 90Β° outside, the sun is beating down, and muggy isn't even the word for the sticky, humid conditions. You know what you need? A cool, refreshing watermelon lemonade with fresh garden rosemary!
This summer drink has just the right combination of sweet and tart to cool you off. And I'll let you know several ideas to really make it your own too!
Like I said, since it's flipping hot outside, I'm going to keep this short and sweet so you can get to enjoying your watermelon lemonade right away. This recipe is for one glass, so you can whip one up right away. If you'd like to make a pitcher, just increase all of the ingredients equally times 4 or 6 (depending on the size of your pitcher).
And if you enjoy lemony treats as much as I do, make sure to pair this lemonade with a slice of lemon blackberry bread, lemon meringue pie, lemon raspberry cheesecake bars, or lemon lavender cookies!
π§Ύ Ingredients
- Fresh lemon juice
- Simple syrup
- Cold water
- Watermelon, blended
- Rosemary
- Ice cubes
See the recipe card below for full list of ingredients and their measurements.
π¬ Make the simple syrup
To make simple syrup, simply combine 1 cup water and 1 cup granulated sugar in a pot and bring to a summer until all sugar has dissolved. Place in a container and chill. This will last in the fridge for two to three weeks.
π Blend the drink
Place about ΒΎ cup chopped watermelon in a blender. I found it necessary to carefully press it down with a wooden spoon, so all the chunks were touching the cutting blade. Blend until smooth.
I also grabbed a sprig of fresh rosemary from the garden, took off a few needles, and broke them up by hand. I'm thinking it was about ΒΌ teaspoon.
In a glass, combine all ingredients, stir, garnish with small slices of watermelon and lemon, and enjoy!
πΎ Variations
- Bubbly - Do you love the bubbles in sparkling water? Use that instead!
- Cocktail - Want to make it a summer cocktail? Add 1 ounce vodka and have a party!
