Ridiculously Easy Gourmet Tuna Sandwich

A delicious twist on a classic lunchtime favorite. Just think about the meaty tuna, the briny capers, creamy mayo, and the snappy jalapeño. Your taste buds will be longing for more.

  • 1 big slice of bread, toasted
  • 5 ounce can of tuna
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 small shallot, chopped
  • ½ jalapeño, deseeded & chopped
  • 1 tablespoon capers, chopped
  • Salt & pepper


  • Drain the water or oil from the tuna can, and add the tuna to a bowl. If you like the chunky kind, break it apart with a fork.
  • Add the chopped shallot, jalapeño, and capers.
  • Mix in the mayonnaise and olive oil, and season with salt & pepper (add hot sauce or green salsa if you like). Give it a good stir. 
  • If you happen to have a fresh lemon handy, squirt some lemon juice on the mixture to brighten it up a bit!
